Sweet potatoes are a staple of East Texas cooking, and this casserole is perfect for the cooling temperatures of fall weather and planning your upcoming Thanksgiving meal.
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup of melted butter
1 cup of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
4 cups of grated raw sweet potatoes
1/2 cup of orange juice
Mix the milk, butter, sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg, then add the sweet potatoes and orange juice.
Bake covered at 350 degrees for half an hour. Then, remove cover and bake uncovered for another half an hour.
